Welcome to Our Website

The purpose of the DC Velo Outreach Foundation is to engage in charitable education, safety, and socially responsible programs and activities involving cycling specific causes, events, and needs to encourage safe cycling practices among children and adults of all abilities. The Foundation was incorporated in 2007 as a 501 c(3) non-profit corporation, registered in the District of Columbia. Membership is open to all who will actively participate in our cycling safety, health and education projects and mentoring programs.

DC Velo Outreach Foundation 2010 Goals

  • To conduct one or more First Responder Courses (aka "What to do when a cyclist crashes?") to cycling teams in the DC Metro Region
  • To organize the Kid's Race at the July 11 Capital Criterium with our sponsor CycleLife providing helmets for all kid's race entrants
  • To partner with the Ride2Recovery Foundation organized to benefit the mental and physical rehabilitation of wounded veterans featuring cycling as the core activity
  • To promote awareness of the benefits of cycling for health, fitness and transportation; and the individual responsibility each cyclist has to his or her safety and those who share our streets and bike trails.
